White Wines for September Summer
Its time for Monsoons to slowly start retreating giving way to a second heat wave which will last until October. This is our list of white wines which will help you beat the heat.
Stags’ Leap Viognier
From Napa Valley comes Stag’s Leap Viognier which is known for its delicacy. Ripe fruits like bananas, peaches and apricots on the nose come across but they are very subtle, while the palate has great acidity with fruits and subtle floral notes.
Price: Rs 5650
Maison Trimbach Pinot Gris Reserve
This Alsace winery makes wines with almost zero residual sugar and brilliant acidity. Maison Trimbach’s Pinot Gris Reserve is our pick because of the lovely floral notes which mingle with lime and hints of smokiness creating a beautiful balance on both the nose and palate. There is a slight bitter almond note on the finish which adds to the complexity to the wine.
Price: Rs 3676
Christian Moreau Chablis
Domaine Christian Moreau Pere & Fils is a 200 year old winery in Burgundy and this Chablis is from their entry level range. But don’t let that fool you; it is a wine with great character, ripe aromas of herbs, pepper and fruits together with minerality which reflects on the palate making it a crisp clean wine with a great finish.
Price: Rs 4178
Sula Wines are the only Indian winery which has tried their hand at Riesling. It has been an experiment we’ve been satisfied with for us to recommend it to you. The wine has typical Riesling notes of fresh green apples, peaches and honey with rich lustrous palate that it very German in its style. A good wine to pair with Indian food!
