Two Oceans Sauvignon Blanc
A land which witnesses the coming together of two mighty oceans, that’s South Africa. Wines of the Two Ocean Wines are dedicated to this coming together of Atlantic and Indian oceans. In the wine country of Western Cape, the combination of sea winds and land mass temperature creates a unique terroir and microclimate for wines believes Two Oceans Wines.
Two Oceans crossed its own shores to reach out to international lands in 1993 and today the wines are available in 70 countries, including India. The winemaking style of the winery is to keep the wines fresh, well balanced and invigorating. The microclimate and its impact on the grapes is what make the wines what they are. The winery is also environmentally sensitive using IPW (Integrated Production of Wine) accredited grapes grown using eco-sustainable principles. The 2010 vintage onwards the wine bottles proudly wear the badge of sustainability.
The 2010 vintage of Two Oceans Sauvignon Blanc follows the house style to the tee. It is a refreshing and easy drinking wine. While the aromas are well amplified the wine is still simple and easy to understand.
Nose: The fruit forward nose of the wine is unmistakable; full of ripe bananas and papayas. There are also some herbaceous notes which linger.
Palate: The palate and the nose are perfectly in sync. The tropical fruits come across well on the palate along with some grass (herbaceous) notes. Despite the rich aromas the wine is crisp and fresh with reasonable acidity and medium finish.
It is a good wine to deal with the rising temperatures in the city and at Rs 1395 (retail price in Mumbai) it is a value-for-money option. This wine with its uncomplicated structure is a good wine to introduce someone to wine drinking.
