Old Speckled Hen launches in India!
More good news for beer drinkers! Old Golden Hen & Old Speckled Hen, two beers of Morland Brewery are now available in Mumbai. Morland Brewery was originally from Abington in England and was bought by Greene King Brewery. These beers were first brewed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the MG car factory and were named after an old MG car used as a factory runaround ‘the owld speckled un’.
Old Golden Hen
Nose : Orange rind, caramel and hops.
Palate : Good body & texture, medium carbonation and orange on the palate as well. Hoppy and bitter on the finish followed by slight honey sweetness. Good light and refreshing beer, perfect for a Sunday afternoon.
Old Speckled Hen
Nose : Not a very expressive with slight honey, bread and caramel.
Palate : Bread dominated notes with lots of hops and bitterness. Not too many flavours on the palate which was disappointing. Palate also felt a little diluted and underwhelming, specially for an English Pale Ale, which would ideally pack a lot of flavours.
