Parent company of brands like Glenfiddich and Hendrick’s, William Grant & Sons, has taken over liqueur brand Drambuie. The purchase amount is still undisclosed. The purchase came right after the company declared 10.6% rise in operating profits in 2013 compared to the year before, which valued £138million. Of the acquisition Michael Kennedy, CEO of Drambuie said, “We believe that Drambuie can truly achieve its potential as it will benefit from being part of a larger and more diverse organization.” Drambuie is a liqueur made from malt whisky, honey and spices, it is said to be Bonnie Prince Charlie’s secret recipe which he handed over to the MacKinnon clan for helping him escape persecution by the hands of King’s Men in Britain.
