Latest from Shepherd Neame: IPA
After our great experience with Shepherd Neame’s 4 beers (Read more about them here) we were very happy to see their IPA on the shelves. This has been the latest introduction from Britain’s oldest brewer in India. Infact, this would be the only bottled IPA available in Mumbai, apart from the ones brewed by The Barking Deer and Gateway Brewing Co.
Nose: Aromas of citrus fruits and hops to start with. A few swirls later, orange rind, slight spices, prunes and grass develop.
Palate: Easy drinking IPA with a palate consistent with the nose. Raisins, orange rind, caramel and grassy notes with undertones of hoppy sweetness followed by a very slight bitter taste. We would have preferred more flavors out of the beer and a heavier body. If you are not used to IPAs, this would be a good beer to get you started.
The beer retails for Rs. 330 for a 500ml pint, about Rs. 100 more than most other Shepherd Neame beers.
