KRSMA wines from Hampi Hills, Karnataka
We got to taste KRSMA wines, based in Hampi Hills in Karnataka. The brand is the brainchild of Hyderabad based couple Krishna Prasad and Uma Chigurpati, who also happen to be heading pharmaceutical company. The winery is 70 kms away from the acclaimed UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Hampi temple complex.
Their Sauvignon Blanc 2012 and Cabernet Sauvignon 2011 both surprised us not only in terms of quality but also the standard of packaging. They will easily be in our selection of the best Indian wines.
KRSMA Sauvignon Blanc 2012
Nose : Capsicum with tropical fruits like pineapple and mango. Clean fresh nose.
Palate : Medium bodied wine with lots of pineapple, lemon zest and citrus notes. Fruit forward wine with a crisp finish. It is a simple and easy to drink Sauvignon Blanc.
KRSMA Cabernet Sauvignon 2011
Nose : Green pepper, eucalyptus, black currants, cinnamon and vanilla.
Palate : Lots of black fruit on the palate, plums, cinnamon, slight coconut and oak. Palate is consistent with the nose and has excellent oak integration. Smooth yet complex medium bodied wine with soft tannins.
The Cabernet Sauvignon would be one of the best 2011 Indian red wine that we have tasted yet.
