Domaine Jacques Selosse | Champagne
In the growing trend of grower Champagne, no grower perhaps is as renowned or as influential as Anselme Selosse. In some way or the other, as the man behind Domaine Jacques Selosse, he has not only left a mark on consumers, but inspired an entire generation of young winegrowers in the Champagne region. What makes Selosse’s wines unique is that he uses techniques learnt in Burgundy and even biodynamic practices creating a Burgundy-style wine with bubbles!
History of these wines is very young as compared to other stalwarts in the region. Jacques Selosse, Anselme’s father, set it the vineyards and the chateau post World War II and Anselme took over in the 80s. He produces only 55,000 bottles a year depending on the vintage making them a coveted asset for those who get their hands on one. So much so, that in March this year 300 cases worth more than $300,000 together with labels, counterfeiting motives expected.
