Beer Reco: Wychwood Brewery’s Hobgoblin
“What’s the matter Lagerboy, afraid you might taste something?”
From UK’s largest brewer of organic beers, Wychwood Brewery, comes this gem of a beer called Hobgoblin aka Ruby Beer.
This Legendary Ruby Beer is brewed with Chocolate & Crystal malts and blended with the goodness of Styrian Goldings and English Fuggles hops. The result is a well-balanced, full-bodied beer with a copper red colour and a slight yellow coloured head.
On the nose, we got nickel, some fruits and loads of nuts, biscuit, caramel and toffee from the toasted malts. It was very similar, flavour-wise – lovely caramel and nutty notes with a slight metallic taste. The hops aren’t overpowering and the Hobgoblin is moderately bitter. And at 5.2% ABV this is a great session beer.
The Hobgoblin goes perfectly with meat. Pair it with sausages, BBQ Pork or Grilled Chicken and you are set!
