Bar With a View
Away from the jarring heat and incessant rains, the months December, January and February are the best time to enjoy Mumbai in open air. And what would be better than to nurse a drink and watch over the city’s dynamic and enigmatic skyline. We give you Mumbai’s must-visit rooftop bars.
Dome, Marine Drive
We would call this one of the best views from Mumbai. The roof top alfresco lounge bar at the InterContinental Marine Drive’s Dome overlooks the quintessentially Mumbai view of the Queen’s Necklace and Arabian Sea. Located on the 8th floor it is the perfect place to unwind and catch the setting sun, together with a mix of grilled and Japanese food and a live bar.

In Worli, Four Season Hotel Mumbai houses Aer. It has gained the reputation of becoming the ‘it’ place for high profile consumers in the city. With Mumbai’s race course on one side and the Arabian Sea on the other, the rooftop lounge bar on the 34th floor offers a bird’s eye view to the cosmopolitan spirit of the city. Alongwith some of the best cocktails in the country you have an assortment of mezze platters and tapas to choose from.

With a 77 ft long bar and 6000 sq ft dedicated to a lounge and bar is Escobar in Bandra. It had to shutter because of a fire, but the space is back in action. The lounge and bar takes inspiration from Spain – with its name, the open air space and tapas. The long bar stretches from the indoor to the outdoor rooftop area while the view is of a busy and bustling suburb of Bandra. The drinks menu has been designed by veteran Mixologist and Bar Consultant Shatbhi Basu. The food menu is designed and executed by Executive Chef Rajesh Ratna and his team. The lounge and bar has a concept called the Crown service, very similar to a chef’s table, which allows you to custom make your menu for the evening.

Named after an endangered ape in Congo, this lounge bar is a popular hot spot for the young and restless in Mumbai. Spread over 2800 sq ft this lounge bar is also divided between indoors and outdoors. With no real view from the rooftop, the bar lounge still manages to emanate a lively ambiance. While the main bar is outside, the indoors bar is an interactive one bar where you can jump behind it to mix your personal favorites. The outdoor area is an eclectic bistro styled space.

Asilo, Lower Parel
Spanish for shelter or haven, Asilo is the latest entrant in Mumbai’s nightlife. Sitting on 40th floor of Palladium Hotel. It is managed by JSM Corp, the company behind Hard Rock Café, California Pizza Kitchen, Shiro, etc. This lounge bar is all geared to give neighboring Aer a tough competition. It does have a more chilled out ambience and vibe to it while Aer feels more modern and slick.

The Bar Stock Exchange, Bandra
What used to be The Big Bang Cafe in Bandra has recently become The Bar Stock Exchange. The stock market themed bar and restaurant chain has become Mumbai’s favorite watering hole.
