5 Indian wines under Rs 700
Every time you stand in front of the wine aisle at your departmental store or go to your local wine shop, you feel baffled? Which wine to buy, whether it is value for money and most importantly, are you getting duped into buying a bad wine?
We shall try and simplify this for you with Indian Wine List’s 5 Indian wines under Rs 700 recommendation. These are wines which we have personally tasted and tried and believe that they reflect some of the best winemaking practices in the Nashik region as well. These wines are easily available in large retail-format style stores but maybe difficult to source from your neighbourhood wine shop. And if the wine shop is your only access, please insist that they source these wines for you.
Fratelli Chardonnay 2012
Aromas of green apple and lime and orange rind on the nose followed by melons and lime on the palate. Firm acidity with a hint of minerality. Slight oak gives the wine a good body and rounded finish.

York Chenin Blanc 2012
Saturated fruity notes with guava. The 10% barrel ferment provided a body to the wine with a slight nutty flavour. Good crisp acidity and the fruity nose is reflected on the palate as well.

Vallonné Rosé 2012
India’s only Rosé wine made from Cabernet Sauvignon, it is a medium bodied pinkish wine has notes of strawberry, plum and melons. This is a vibrant, crisp and lively wine. Also the best packaged Indian wine in our opinion!

Grover Zampa Syrah 2010
Hint of vanilla and cherries on the nose leading to dark fruit like blackcurrant and cherries with pepper notes on the palate. Slight smoky and subtle woody characters but not overpowered by oak.

Vallonné Crimson Glory 2011
A Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot blend the aromas of red fruits and spices appear both on the nose and the palate. The presence of Malbec has added complexity and structure to this blend.
